I have so enjoyed having the Peanut’s Ranunculus gracing our dining table. The riotous colors were such fun to photograph (in case you couldn’t tell).

In my more absent moments at the table, I found myself declining “Ranunculus” in Latin. Which made me wonder, was it just a sticky habit from Mrs. Black’s 10th grade Classical Latin? Or did this little flower actually have a Latin name?

Allow me to satisfy the curiosity of the other Latin nerds among us. Ranunculus is Late Latin meaning “little frog”. Doesn’t that just make you love these blooms all the more?
